The Decentralization Project

A good day to all,

We, the IMU Ball 2009 committee, will be starting on our Decentralization Project this month.

Q: What is this project about?
A: The project is simple, each student in IMU will be given 5 IMU notebooks to be sold to members of the public. Each notebook is to be sold at a price of RM 3, and 20% of the earnings from this project will be donated to the Rumah Jaireh.


Q: What is Rumah Jaireh?
A: RUMAH JAIREH was set up in Batu Arang on the 7th of June 2005.
This home caters to the following needs:-

1) HIV+ women, with or without children, rendered homeless or rejected.

2) HIV+ children made homeless or rejected.

3) Sex workers and female drug addicts.

4) Women and children with special needs who cannot be taken in
by other homes or institutions, for some reason or other.

In order to support their efforts, we hope to raise funds for them =) If you're interested to know more about the home, click here.


Q: So where does the other 80% goes?

A: The remainder of the earnings shall be used to support the expenses incurred by the ball such as:
- PA system
- Lighting
- Event Company fees
- Performers' Fees
- Pre-ball cocktail drinks
- Bus transportation
- Decoration
-Miscellaneous (Ball ticket, Ball booklet, etc)


Q: Why is there a need for this project?
A: Again, as mentioned above, the expenses for the ball is a large amount. Along with this post is a full detail of what expenses that will be used for the ball.
As this ball is an IMU event, organised by IMU students FOR IMU students, we believe that every student of IMU should do their part in making the event a success.


*Including services from the event company (PA, lightings, etc), props for performances, professional emcee fee etc.
** Including scheduled transport to the hotel, stationery, publicity, tickets for IMU's Got Talent Champion, meals for backstage crew, performers, etc. To be fundraised through other events.

MACP License Charges will be covered by SAD, IMU

Total = RM 87, 341.50

Number of students paying = 597
Ticket Price = RM 87, 341.50/ 597 = RM 146.30
Target Ticket Price = RM 120.00

Thus, the subsidy per ticket = RM 146.30 - RM 120.00 = RM 26.30

Total subsidy = RM 26.50 x 597 = RM 15, 701.50
(which is a BIG amount!)
